Résumé
Patriarchal society is generally perceived as the foundation of male domination. This article intends to demonstrate a new perception of patriarchy that transcends the traditional notion of male domination. This transcendent form of patriarchy is observed in Maxine Hong Kingston's The Women Warrior — a novel in which strong female characters exhibit dominance over both vulnerable men and weaker women. The paradoxical domination of women in the patriarchal system reveals that the concept of patriarchy requires deeper exploration to develop a more nuanced understanding of its complexities. The study is theoretically based on Paul Camy Mocombe's concept of feminine patriarchy.
